Can I make a restaurant reservation?

We're first-come, first-served — we do not take reservations. However, if you'd like to book a private event such as a birthday party, graduation party, or company celebration, you can inquire here.

Is there a dress code for the restaurant?

We’re a relaxed spot and welcome casual beach attire throughout the day. For lunch: Beachwear is appropriate, though we ask that guests arrive with sand-free feet. Bikini tops are permitted at lunch, while bikini bottoms and swim briefs (including speedos) are not permitted as standalone attire, but may be worn when covered with a towel, wrap, or similar cover-up. For dinner: We ask guests to dress in casual evening attire, and bikini tops are not permitted during dinner service.

Can I charge meals to my room?

Yes! You can charge meals at Stones Throw to your hotel room booking — just come prepared with your last name and room number.

Do you have parking for restaurant guests?

Accepted Answer

No — all parking is for hotel guests only. Long Sands Beach has street parking nearby. If you're staying in York Beach, it's an easy walk, bike ride, or beach taxi away. Any cars found without a parking pass may be subject to towing.

Do you have a rooftop bar?

Yes! Stones Throw has the first rooftop bar in York, and bonus: of course, it's beachfront.

When is your rooftop bar open?

For the current hours of our rooftop bar, see our hours here. Please note: The rooftop bar may be closed during inclement weather for safety or for private events.

Can I reserve the rooftop bar?

Accepted Answer

We're first-come, first-served —  we do not take reservations. If we have a wait when you arrive, you can request outdoor seating, but we cannot guarantee you will be sat at the rooftop bar.

Can I request to sit at the rooftop bar?

If there are tables open and no wait list, absolutely! If we do have a wait when you arrive, you may request an outdoor or rooftop table — while we will do our best to accommodate an outdoor table, we can never guarantee that you will be seated on the rooftop.

Is your deck covered?

Portions of our outdoor dining are covered in our main dining room, and we have awnings which can be extended when it's not too windy. Our back deck is entirely covered — and might just be York's best kept secret. ;)

We'd say there are more than just options — we've designed our menu to be for everyone! Every item is labeled with allergen notes including: GF (gluten-free), V (vegetarian), or VG (vegan) — so it's easy to navigate!

What if I arrive right before closing?

Come on in — we'll welcome anyone who arrives before closing time. We just ask that you place your full food order before close so our kitchen team can head home at a reasonable hour. The bar typically stays open at least 30 minutes after the kitchen closes.

Yes, and they're extra useful — our gift cards work at Stones Throw and our two sister restaurants, Lulu's and A Little Auk. A great way to gift the best of York. You can find gift cards here.

Are pets allowed at your restaurant?

Pets are not allowed at our indoor or outdoor tables. Under the Americans With Disabilities Act, certified service dogs may be permitted — although emotional support dogs do not count!

Are you open year-round?

We're mostly open year-round, with more limited hours in our shoulder seasons, but we give our team a much-needed month-long break between February and March!

Yes! We have plenty of special and actually tasty mocktails — from the me thyme to the mint to be. Some of our alcohol-drinking guests even order the mocktails because they're so tasty.

Are your ingredients locally sourced in Maine?

We source ingredients locally whenever possible. Our local Maine lobster is always freshly-picked daily, our haddock is always from New England, and other ingredients — like our feta and mushrooms — are sourced from local supplies.

If there is a wait list, do you have a place to wait?

Yes! There is a comfy seating area and couches under our rooftop bar — you're more than welcome to grab a drink and sit there. You're also welcome to wait anywhere on the beach. We'll text you once your table is ready.

Yes! Our sister restaurants are:

Lulu's — Another beachfront spot, Lulu's serves craft tiki cocktails and tropical food including Maine's first tacos al pastor, tasty sandwiches, housemade spam (or tofu!) musubi, daily sushi, and more. Lulu's has indoor and outdoor seating, including a covered deck with heaters and fans, and fire pits. Lulu's is 300 feet away from Stones Throw on Long Sands Beach.
A Little Auk — An al fresco restaurant on Nubble Point serving craft cocktails out of a 1969 Airstream trailer bar, with Maine shared plates and wood-fired pizza. A Little Auk is 1.5 miles away from Stones Throw at The Viewpoint by Nubble Lighthouse, you can drive (5 minutes with free parking!) or walk (30 minutes).

What happens if it rains?

Around half of our restaurant is indoors or covered, while the other half is outdoors and partially covered or uncovered. We do our best to plan with the forecast — but it is New England!

We can accommodate large parties. Depending on the size of your party, you may be seated next to each other at separate tables. However, we do not take reservations. If you would like to book a private event, you can inquire here.

Do you close during storms?

We're Mainers: If we plan to open, we'll be open! We have plentiful indoor seating, and only close during extreme weather events (such as snowstorms) for the safety of our team.

Yes  — we're quite literally a Stones Throw from Long Sands Beach. The only tables that do not have ocean views are on our back deck.

Yes! We make to-go cocktails fresh and seal them into cans with our canner behind the bar. All to-go alcoholic beverages must be accompanied by a food order, and must be sealed into a can.
