A note to our Stones family.
When we first started Stones Throw, funky dishes made with locally-sourced ingredients, a menu committed to serving both locals *and* visitors, and actually tasty options for our gf and veg-head friends were genuinely hard to come by in the area. Over the years, our hard-working team turned this little-beach-spot-that-could into an institution with roots far beyond Maine. We’ve even run into people in other countries wearing Stones shirts!
During that time, our family has been working non-stop. We’ve opened and grown two other hotels and restaurants in York, while continuing to grow Stones Throw. To be honest, we feel as though we’ve put all we personally can into Stones and we have some other panko-battered fish to fry. Plainly, we need the time to realize the visions of our other projects.
It’s a total cliché, but our team and guests have become one big Long Sands family. We’ve sipped painkillahs and shared bang-bang-broc together for over 12 years, and we’re so grateful to have been part of your lives and traditions along the way.
It feels incredibly bittersweet to be personally closing this Stones chapter, but luckily... we’re not going far. Literally just a few feet away! We hope you'll follow along and come see what we're up to at our other spots: The Nevada, Lulu's, The Viewpoint and A Little Auk. Plus, Stones Throw is open through December 21st, 2026 before changing ownership in January, 2027. We can't wait to welcome you again soon.

Note: Stones Throw officially changes ownership in January 2027. All gift cards already purchased, current hotel reservations and current event bookings will be honored by the next owners.
